Woodworking

In this area you can see all of the woodworking I've posted about on this site. This area includes only projects and items I have designed, created, refined and built from scratch. What you will not find are posts of kits I have purchased or acquired and assembled.

Napkin and Chopstick Holder

Napkin Holder

Occasionally I create something just for the fun of it, and to see if I can make something functional and aesthetically pleasing at the same time. In this case it is a napkin holder, that serves the additional purpose of a chopstick storage and dispenser.

Drill Holder

Drill holder on the wall

I normally do not work with plywood, but sometimes you acquire some, and just do not want to let it go to waste. Instead of making a box or a shelf, or a table top out it, I decided to make something I had a need for. In this case it was an organized way to store my set of drills that would get them off of my table top, while keeping them readily accessible while I am working.

Wooden Mallet

Wooden Mallet

Sometimes when you have a little bit of extra hardwood laying around, you have a couple of options. You can toss it, you can buy some more wood and make something big, or you can make something useful out of it. In this case I decided it was time to try and make myself a wooden mallet.

Pillar Candle Holder

Pillar Candle Holder

Sometimes you need to stray from a usual design and come up with something new, but useful. In this case I created a unique looking pillar candle holder for my daughter. Although it looks like three separate pieces they are all fully attached and a single item.

Wooden Box Project 2

Woodwn Box 2

Sometimes after you create one project you find yourself finding a need to build a similar project for yourself, and you feel it's not right to take ownership of an item that you were purposefully building for someone else. *laughter* So I decided that I should just make another one instead.

Wooden Box Project 1

Woodwn Box 1

Sometimes you have an idea that you need to roll forward with just because you have some extra wood, and you wanted to make something nice for your lady. That is the case with this wooden box project.

My Workbench

Finished workbench

After working on old beat-up saw horses, and an old war torn piece of plywood for several months, i finally decided that maybe, just maybe I might need a decent workbench to do my various projects on. This is the journey to my new work platform for my projects you see above.

Shot Flights

Sometimes you have to make something for yourself to fill a need, and be stylish at the same time. In this case I was looking to create storage for shot glasses that could also work as a way to serve drinks too. That was the genesis of the shot glass flights.

Scrap Wood Candleholder #2

Lit candles

Every once in awhile I start to glue a a few pieces of wood together and let the result help me decide what I'll actually make out of it. Such is the case with this candle holder. It started with three old antique pieces of pine left over from a number of old shelves I tore out of my house when I first moved in.

Scrap Piece Candle Holder

Scrap candle holder

Sometimes when you walk by your scrap pile you notice a piece of wood that is just begging for you to do something with it. That was the genesis of this little guy. It was a left over scrap from a cutting board that I made a few months back.
