Living Room Ceiling Fans - Project

Ceiling Fan Original 1

When I moved into my house I didn't really like the ceiling fans in the living room. Neither the style or the color of the fans themselves. They were a little too old fashioned for my taste, I didn't like the gold finish, and the faux wood slats were just way too plastic looking for me. Then after I repainted the living room I liked them even less.

And of course there were two of them. At least they were a matched set.

So I went out and looked for something a little more contemporary, slightly unique looking, and they had to have a brushed nickel finish. Sounds simple enough you would think. Not so much. After hitting all of the local home improvement stores I realized I was going to have to expand my search a little and went on-line. I still wasn't having much luck in my price range until I went over to the Hunter Ceiling Fans website. That was where I found the Windspan 52" fan.

So I ordered a couple and they showed up this afternoon. Lucky for me I had today off work. I actually think it took longer to remove the old fans than it did to put the new ones up.

And they look great and work even better; and they really update the look and feel of the room.

Even though they only have three blades and my last fans had five, with the unique shape of the blades they move air much better than the old ones. So much so I think I will probably leave the on the middle or low setting instead of high like the last ones were usually on.

Did you notice anothing different about these fans? Something missing that you see on most home ceiling fans?

No pull chains. Not one, not two, none. They are remote controlled. They come with a very simple remote and they can be programed so they each work on a separate remote, or as I did, they are both set up to run on a single remote.
