Why do I need a Site Membership

In case anyone is wondering why the membership/user space is activated on my website:

Well, there is no deep dark sinister reason. The main reason is to cut down on the amount of SPAM and bogus weblinks that are normally posted in any web space that doesn't require authentication or control to post.

To save me headaches when it comes to maintaining my website I just find it easier to require anyone who wants to post entries or comments on any of the areas set up an account. That way I don't have to spend a lot of time cleaning out crap that anyone who stops by doesn't need to see.
