When I first moved into my home I held off repainting the interior until I was sure what I was looking for color-wise, so I didn't end up repainting the place again and again. Besides the former owners had repainted the place when they put it on the market.
My bathroom was a nice refreshing lavendar. About as far as I wanted as a color for my bathroom.
During past paint jobs they just kind of painted around everything, and forgot to patch holes and cracks and other rough spots. Something I needed to correct.
First I removed everything from the room that I didn't want to get paint on and didn't want to have to mask out.
Then I masked everything out and patched, repaired, and sanded down a few rough spots that needed taken care of.
After covering everything remaining with plastic, I put a new coat of paint on the ceiling and took a break while it dried.
As much as I like the commercials for paint that claim you can change the color of the room with one coat of paint without priming. We all know it's not true, but they do put down a nice first coat without priming.
The second coat dry and masking tape removed allowed me to put the fixtures back up and the whole place started to look a lot better.
Everything back in place. I still need to repaint the trim and the baseboard heaters but there is no reason to keep the whole placed masked up and disassembled. But for the most part its pretty much done.

Trim Painted
I finished painting the trim today and baseboard covers. When I first moved into the house the bathroom didn't have any towel rods/holders. The previous owners used coat hooks to hang their towels. And they used random metals and colors and plastic throughout. So originally there was a white plastic faucet, a plastic silver shower head, shiny gold coat hooks, brass door knobs, copper hinges, and rust. Did I mention rust? Anyway. All of the fixtures are now new matching chrome, the handles and hinges on the cabinet are all matching nickel, new curved shower rod and I put film over the windows to let maximum light in while preventing people from seeing in; and everything is perfect.
Well, kind of. When I went remove the blinds in the bathroom to paint the trim I found they had hung 20" wide blinds in a 24" wide window. But to fix it, they hung the mounts 23" wide and shoved plastic bags around the ends of the blinds to keep it from sliding from side to side, and covered it all up with a thin piece of molding to hide the Jerry rigging. It probably would have been cheaper and easier to just get the right sized blinds in the first place. Glad I put film on the windows so there was no issues of privacy in the bathroom until I purchased replacement blinds.
